Hi, I'm Kerry...

Fresh Focus was created by myself, Kerry, to help riders rebuild their confidence and enjoy being in the saddle again.

After experiencing the benefits of therapies like CBT and hypnotherapy myself, I went on to train as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist. What stood out to me early on was how many riders were quietly struggling with confidence—and how little practical, relatable support there was for them.

Having ridden and owned horses all my life, I understand that this isn’t just a hobby. When confidence drops, it affects everything.

My approach is straightforward, grounded and designed for real riders. No fluff, no jargon—just practical tools that help you feel calmer, more in control, and able to enjoy riding again.

Alongside rider confidence, I also support individuals with performance-related challenges such as public speaking, workplace confidence and stepping into new opportunities—but my core focus will always be helping riders.

Fully qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and an accredited member of ACCPH.

Haven ridden all my life in various guises, I bought my current horse, Bertie, in 2021—a big, sensitive young horse who wasn’t the easiest start. As a young horse he lacked confidence, had a few behavioural quirks, and tested me more than I expected. With time, patience and a lot of persistence, we found our way to local riding club events

Then in 2023, everything changed..... Bertie had a field injury and ended up in hospital twice. There was a point where I nearly lost him due to infection, and the rehab that followed was long, slow, and uncertain. For a while, we didn’t even know if he’d be sound again—let alone ridden.

But we got there.  Now we’re competing at BD Novice level and continuing to take on new challenges—although we’ve happily retired from jumping, and Bertie is very content keeping all four hooves on the ground. Every day with him feels like a bonus.

Like a lot of riders, I’ve had my own ups and downs with confidence along the way. I still use the same techniques I share with my clients to manage nerves, reset my mindset, and keep moving forward.

Working with riders also means I’m constantly learning—every client brings a slightly different experience, and that continues to shape how I support people in a way that’s practical and relevant.
