Overcoming Self-Doubt: Working on yourself to become a more confident rider


Sarah worked with Fresh Focus Therapy at the beginning of this year to help tackle and confront her struggles with self-doubt, emerging with a newfound confidence and empowerment. Through introspection, guidance and using a range or CBT techniques, Sarah learned to navigate the complexities of her thoughts and emotions, leaving her equipped to manage challenges in the short but also long term.

Facing the Challenge:

For Sarah, self-doubt was a constant companion, making her feel uncertain in herself, her abilities and her riding performance. The pressure to be perfect weighed heavily on her, as she grappled with feelings of inadequacy and fear of judgment from others. Despite her many accomplishments, Sarah found herself trapped in a cycle of negative self-talk, questioning her worth and constantly seeking validation from external sources. This is a deeply challenging place to be and when we first started working together, Sarah was so used to this state she had just accepted her fate.

 

The Journey to Empowerment:

With courage and determination, Sarah started working on self-discovery and healing with us challenging her thoughts and facing into some past traumas. Through therapy sessions we focused on using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques, she learned to challenge her negative thought patterns and cultivate a more positive and realistic outlook on life. Journaling her thoughts and reactions provided clarity and insight as well as using positive mantras allowed her to take control of her inner dialogue and override her negative self talk.

 

The Transformation:

As Sarah navigated her journey, she experienced a profound shift in perspective. No longer held captive by self-doubt, she began to see the world through a lens of optimism and self-assurance. A newfound belief in herself emerged, bolstered by a sense of inner strength and resilience. With each passing day, Sarah found herself smiling more freely, embracing life with a renewed sense of contentment and empowerment. A wonderful outcome!

Sarah reflects on her transformative experience with gratitude.
